What I picked up in April/May

Hey everyone

With my wedding coming up I have been buying lots more beauty products than normal. I just want to try new things out and see what works the best, I'm doing my own make up and just want it to be perfect! Some bits are just bits I would normally pick up or have run out of. With that been said I have collected a lot of photos that are meant for haul posts but instead of doing different posts I am just going to put it all together into one.

Boots 3 for 2

Some more Boots 3 for 2

This was a Superdrug Haul

From Love Make Up website

House of Frasier and Pharmacy

A new Liz Earle Set as I'd run out

Debenhams when they had 10% off offer on

Mac stuff

Finally have my hands on it!!

As I said I wouldn't normally buy this much stuff. If you would like to know the price of anything just let me know.

Anyone else getting married this summer?

LuxBox - May

Hi everyone, today's post is going to be a beauty box post. Now I've stopped putting my GlossyBox post up every month as they are so many posts about it I don't want to get repetitive and bore you all so I decided I would stop that. That been said I do also subscribe to a newer beautybox on the market and that is LuxBox, I don't see many posts up about this so have decided I will continue to so a monthly round up of this box.

So this is the May edition of the LuxBox and their 2nd ever box (see my first box post here).

As you can see by the photos the packaging is lovely. The box is a pale lilac colour with the LuxBox logo and name on it. Once opened you can access the little leaflet which tells you what is in this months box. The products are carefully packaged inside black tissue paper with a LuxBox pink sticker sealing them in.
I like the packaging, very girly and simple.

And here is what is in Mays' LuxBox.....

Here is just a run down and not reviews as I haven't had chance to try the products out.

  1. Murad Exfoliating Cleanser - I have never tried any Murad products so am really pleased to see this in here.
  2. Di Palomo Hand and Nail Cream - Never tried or heard of this brand so am intrigued to try this out and research a little on the brand. Always on the look out for a good hand cream.
  3. Senationelle Flicktips - These look interesting. Looking forward to giving these a try. If they work and I can apply these easily enough I think they will be great.
  4. Papier Poudre Rachel Booklet - I was a bit unsure what these were but after reading up they are papers that's have special absorbent qualities that cleanse pores lifts oil and dust from the face and soak up any excess oils. It leaves a delicate trace of powder to leave a matte finish. They come in 3 shades and I have been given the darkest shade which I don't think will be any good but again am intrigued by the product and although I don't tent to suffer from oily skin these will be nice to carry around for those just in case moments.
  5. The Rosebud Perfume Co Mocha Rose Tube - A chocolaty scented lip balm. Looks like a good quality balm with a squeezy tube and plastic hygenic applicator. Not tried this brand either so will be good to try them out.
So for me this has been a box of new brands which I do like as it gives me the chance to find new brands and new products which is the whole idea of a beauty box. I think this is a great box and Lux have done a great job on their second box. Will definitely be keeping my subscription to see what June brings.

Lux Box is available for subscription on their website and is £12.95 per month including p+p.

Lush Haul

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Here in the UK we have had
a super long weekend for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The weather has been awful but it didn't seem to stop Britain in celebrating.
We had a quiet weekend (on a spending ban until after the wedding) but it was lovely to have the hubby at home for 4 days instead of 2.

So as the title suggests this post is about a few bits I've picked up from Lush recently. Normally I just stick to bath and shower products but after getting a sample of one of the moisturisers I decided to pick up a few skin care bits too.

First Visit
  •  Vanilla Fountain Bath Bomb - £3.15 - Never spotted this one and can't believe I missed it, I am a massive lover of anything Vanilla smelling. It smells beautiful, a mix of creme brulee, vanilla custard and sherbet.
  •  Creamy Candy Bubble Bar - £2.45 - A sweet vanilla scented bubble bar.
  •  Trial Sized Charity Pot - £1.00 for 10g - I've been wanted to get one of these for a while as I think they are really handy to pop in your bag and as the whole amount goes to charity I feel like I'm doing my bit. The Charity Pot is a light body lotion with almond oil and coco butter.
  • Tester of Celestial face Moisturiser

Online Order

  •  Skin Drink Moisturiser - £11.50 for 45g - After trying out a tester of one of the face cream and been really impressed I decided I would pick this up as sometime I get dry patches on my face and thought this would be good to try. It's a rich face cream for dryer skin types.
  • Celestial Moisturiser - £11.50 for 45g - I was given a sample of this to try after speaking to one of the Lush ladies and explaining about my sore itchy eye lids, she said to give it a try. I loved it and it didn't irritate them at all. It's a beautiful light moisturiser for sensitive skins. I just had to buy the full size.
  • Eau Roma Water Toner - £7.00 for 250g - After hearing a lot about how good the Lush toners were I had to give them a try, especially since I'm coming to the end of my Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic (which is amaz by the way). I decided on the rose and lavender one as it's the one I had heard the most about. Have been loving my Caudalie Beauty Elixir so really like the idea of using another spritz toner.
Included in my online order were some Aquatic Tooty Tabs (RRP £3.50) to try which I thought was a lovely touch. Not too sure about them but am going to give them a try...I think! They are solid toothpaste and this type is earl grey, lime and jasmine flavoured which is what's putting me off trying them, I like my toothpaste minty but as they were free I'm happy to give them a try.

I also picked up some other bits but had used them before I took photos, sorry!

  •  Dream Cream - £10.75 for 240g -  My 3rd repurchase of this, is amazing for my sensitive and patched eczema skin. Smells so beautiful.
  •

  •  The Comforter Bubble Bar - £4.15 -  This and the Dream cream are my fav ever Lush products. Have bought this every time I've been into lush as I just can't resist. It smells so delish, puts lots of pink bubbles in my bath and leaves my skin feeling silky soft, what more can you ask?

  •  Melting Marshmallow Bath Melt - £3.75 - If you love the Snow Fairy Shower Gel that comes out around Christmas time then you will love this as it has the same scent. I wasn't overally impressed as it didn't do much to the bath and also couldn't feel much difference to my skin. It does smell divine though.
Looking back at this I have bought a lot from Lush but I'd say this has been over the past 6-8 weeks.
What's your favourite Lush product? Any recommendations for me to try?

Spots, Stripes and Sparkles - NOTD

Hi everyone,

This is an amazing mani I had done at my salon the other week and I had to do a post on it and show you gals. I really loved it and wore it for around 2 weeks and strangely didn't get bored which is very unusual for me with a mani.

What did you think?

I have an amazing orange and pink summery mani on at the min, I posted a photo on Twitter the other day but will get a post on in the next few days as I am really loving this one too.

Well I hope everyone has a great weekend, over here in the UK we will be celebrating the Queens Jubilee so I am looking forward to spending some quality time with friends and family.

NOTD–Essie Splash Of Grenadine

Hello lovely people. Today is just a quick Nail of The Day post. Last week a did a Essie haul post (link) which included some beautiful new Essie polishes I’d picked up. This is the first one I tried and wanted to show you how it looks on.
437054_l
This is Splash of Grenadine and is described by Essie as a playful magenta pink. I’d say it is a creamy pinky purple. It’s truly gorgeous.

This is the first Essie polish I have tried and I was not disappointed. The polish applied beautifully and has great lasting power, I’ve had this on a week and it’s still looking great.
Can’t wait to try the others out x Danielle Smile

Mac Haul

Hello everyone,

Now if you've been following my blog for a while you will know I'm getting married shortly ( 3 months). So over the past month or so my mind has been focused on buying the perfect wedding make up.
I've spent ages deciding if I was going to do my own make up or have it done professionally but I have decided on doing my own so I've been buying lots of things to try out to see how they will look and if I should use them on my big day.

I saw a bridal makeup tutorial on YouTube using two eyeshadows from Mac and it looked so beautiful I knew I had to get them. I also picked up a lipstick and lipglass I've been lusting after for a while that may also come in handy on the day too.

So I got :
  •  Eyeshadow in Mulch
  •  Eyeshadow in Patina

  •  Lipstick in Viva Glam V

  • Lipglass in Cultured

So that's everything I picked up at Mac. I'm really looking forward to playing around with the eyeshadows and hoping I can create a really nice look with them.

Anyone got any bridal makeup tips?

Thanks Danielle x

Essie Haul

I love nail polish, just love it. I can't leave the house without polish on my nails, I would just feel naked! Saying that over the years I have not branched out into many brands like I have with my makeup so one of the things I wanted to do was try some brands I hadn't tried out before. I purchased some Butter London polishes back in March and loved those and next on my list to try was Essie.
Through beauty blogs I read and YouTube videos I watch I've heard loads of great things about Essie nail polishes so was very excited about getting some and seeing what they were like.
I ordered 5 colours and it took me a long time to decide on colours as they have a huge selection and all of them are so beautiful.

L-R. Jam N Jelly, Peach Daiquiri, Splash of Grenadine, Lilacism, Flawless

How amazing are all these colours? I'm so pleased with the shades as I ordered online and some places online swatches look nothing like to product that comes out but this were spot on.
I ordered mine from Superdrugs' website and they were £7.99 each.
Really want to get my hands on loads more shades but need to try all these out first. I'm wearing Splash of Grenadine at the min and I love it. So pretty.
Do you have a favourite nail polish brand? I love OPI and China Glaze and have always stuck to them but I must say after trying out Essie I may have found another favourite brand!

NOTD - Disco Biscuit

Hello Strangers, It's been been a week or two since my last post so I do apologise but I'm sure all you girls understand that sometimes little old life gets in the way. Hope everyone is well and been enjoying the past few days of sunshine we have had.

Today's post is a NOTD post. Back in March I picked up a couple of Butter London polishes (see post here.) One of those polishes was Disco Biscuit. Disco Biscuit is a hot pink with blue micro glitter particles. It applies quite sheer but can be build up with more coats if desired.

The polish is amazing and has definetly made it's way into my top 10 polishes after only one wear.
I know the pictures aren't fab but it's the best I could get with trying to show you the glitter particles sparkling through.

Butter London polishes retail at around £12, I get mine from here.

Newest Beauty Box - Lux Box

Hello girlie's, So look what arrived at my house today.... A brand new beauty box! So this is the Lux Box beauty box and it is the first box they have done. Now I did subscribe to both Glossybox and Carmine so when Carmine shut up shop I was on the look out for another beauty box to subscribe too and decided on Lux Box. So I'll get on with it and show you what was inside the newest beauty box on the market.

Now the packaging is very similar to Glossybox, same size and shaped box and when openedd it has the black tissue paper with the ribbon and sticker. I do love the colour of the Lux Box as its a lovely pale lilac colour. I also like the hot pink ribbon and sticker. Love the packaging, really glad they went in Glossy Box's direction with this as I prefer this type of packaging.

Inside the box on top of the tissue paper was a lovely card/pamphlet thingy ma bob with the Lux Box logo on the front and when opened had a list of all the items included in the box with descriptions of the products, uses and directions. I really love that they have gone into detail about the product as many beauty boxes don't and I have had times when I have wondered what I am actually supposed to do with a product so definitely a thumbs up for that. On the down side it doesn't list the prices of the products which I really like to know so unless you research and find out your self you don't know what the contents of your box is worth.

So here is what was inside......

  • Steam Cream 75g - This is a handmade cream that's been made using natural ingredients that have been fused together using steam. It helps to provide long-lasting hydration for the face but can also be used on body and hands too. This product won the Beauty Insider's Choice award. Now I was slightly disappointed to see this in the box and that's because I already have it as it was in a beauty box a couple of months back. It is in different packaging but it's still essentially the same product. I do love the steam cream so will eventually get use of it but I'm no where near finishing my other pot. I am sure though that people who didn't get that previous beauty box will love this as it is a lovely cream.

  •  Eldora False Lashes in H146 - Eldora are a company who make handmade false lashes, they are both beautiful and affordable. Again I've received Eldora lashes in a previous beauty box (although they were a different set) and haven't gotten around to using them yet. Again lovely product but something I have already got.

  •  BM Beauty Eyeshadow 1g x 2 - I actually received two of these (not sure if I was supposed to or not) and they were in the shades Aquatic Galaxy + Wolf Howl. These are mineral shadows that are free from parabans, synthetic dyes and fragrances, fillers, bismuth oxychloride, nano particles and animal products. They have a wide range of colours in the collections. Again I've received one of these in a different beauty box in the past in a pink/golden shade. I really loved the shadow so am pleased to have it in two more shades. The shades are a bit out there and not something I'd normally wear but I'll try getting them to work for me somehow.

  •  Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream 10ml - A triple action cream that says will sooth, brighten and lift the eye area. It will revitalise weary eyes, smooth away dark shadows and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Big claims so am really excited to try this eye cream out. Love Balance Me as a brand so am feeling positive about this.

  •  MOA The Green Balm 1g - A 100% natural healing balm. Says it has miraculous healing powers to help soothe, nourish and renew dry, itchy skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, bumps, grazes and minor burns. It can even work on cold sores and as a facial cleansing balm or used after shaving. So happy to see this gem in here. I've been suffering with eczema for about 4 months now so will be trying this out and hopefully it will live upto it's claims and heal me!

There is also a 50% off code on a set of eyelash extensions from Boudoir Lashes.

So that was the box. What do you think? Even though I have already received 3 of the 5 items before in other bb I still think this is a good mix of products and features some great brands. I do think they could have made the effort to not put the same items in as other bb especially 3 items and with it been their first box but I am still happy with the box. For someone who has not subscribed to a bb before this would be a great box to have. I'm going to give it another 2 boxes to see what happens and decide whether to carry on my subscription as I think three months is a fair time to test it out and see if it is worth the money.

Lux Box is available for subscription on their website and is £12.95 per month including p+p.

Looking forward to see what they do in the next box and am hoping for no more duplicates.

Danielle x :)
